How does the naming convention file work?
This function provides an easy way to define clear rules for naming files in your projects. Instead of having to rely on manual checks or post-processing, this function ensures that all files are automatically checked and named correctly as soon as they are uploaded.
set up file naming conventions
Note: You must be a project admin to make these settings. => What can project admins do?
Click on Project settings (1.) in the menu on the left and scroll down to File naming convention. Then click on the Pencil button (2.).
You have the choice between Plans (convention applies to all PDF and DWG formats in the file storage in the Plans/Models section), Models (convention applies to all 3D formats in the file storage in the Plans/Models section) and Documents (convention applies to all file formats in the file storage in the Documents section). You can define the naming convention with a text (1.), with a list (2.) and with a separator (3.).
If you want to add a text, click on the corresponding button to open a new window. Here you can enter the Title (1.). You can define the content, whether it should contain letters, numbers or all (2.). Next, you can define the length. You have the option of defining any, a span you specify or a fixed length (3.). Then click on Add (4.).
Once you have created the text, a separator is then required.
Select which separator you want to add (1.) and then click on Add (2.).
If no separator is selected between the attributes, a corresponding error message is displayed.
To generate a selection list, click on List.
A new window will open. Now enter the Title (1.). Via + Add element (2.) you can define the quantity of the selection. Add the Text (3.) in the selection options and then click on Add (4.).
You can add further attributes (1.). These can also be moved using the six dots (2.) via drag & drop. Finally, click on Save (3.).
The file naming conventions can be edited at any time using the pencil button.
checking the file name when uploading
If a plan is uploaded which does not correspond to the file naming convention, a corresponding error message is displayed (1.). Click on Edit (2.) to rename the file directly during the upload.
Now adjust the file name according to the specifications (1.) and then click on Rename (2.).
The file name has been adjusted accordingly and you can now Upload the file.
