How do I compress a file from ARCHICAD?

There is a limit of 4 GB under Documents. If the plan is larger, there is the option of compressing the file:

Save project in archive format:

  1. use the command File > Save as....

  1. in the Save dialogue box that appears, select the ARCHICAD archive project (*.pla) option from the drop-down list of different file formats.

  1. click on the Options button to see the archive options:

  • Include background image (if loaded in the background panel of the photorealistic settings).

Use the next three checkboxes to include other loaded library elements as part of the archive file (in addition to the library elements placed in the project).

Include all library elements from:

  • Favourites:** Save all library items included in the project favourites (this way no items will be missing when you try to use the favourites)

  • Loaded libraries: Archive all parts from all loaded libraries (this will archive the entire library as well. Attention: very large files)

- Include textures

- Include properties

  • Include all drawings: This will include all drawings placed on layouts, even those that are NOT marked with ‘Drawings’.
